MIGHTY OAK PRUNING - FRILFORD

Due to its age and probably a few consecutive hot summers this oak tree had developed a large amount of dead wood and was looking a little worse for wear. Normally this wouldn’t be a problem however this tree is located on a busy golf course and in the interest of health and safety we were asked to carry out some minor pruning works together with removing any deadwood.

We’ve had the pleasure of working on many amazing trees and this oak tree was no exception.

As we had plenty of room to play with we used our 25m multitel cherry picker, which made light work of the job. Once all the dead wood was removed sections were stacked neatly in a neighbouring area to provide some habitat piles.

Good tree pruning is somewhat of an art form and there are a lot of factors to bear in mind, all too often we see trees that have been hacked which will often lead to management issues further down the line. A more sympathetic approach however is better for the tree’s health and preserves these wonderful organisms for many years to come.
