LARGE TREE PLANTING - OXFORD CITY

A much loved project was planting a variety of large trees for one of the beautiful colleges in Oxford. The trees were sourced by the college and arrived on two large trucks.

It was lovely to see such a variety of species the largest of which weighing about 3.5 tonnes and about 35ft tall. The trees were carefully unloaded, taking great care to protect the cambium, moved to their designated spot (not as easy as it sounds) lifted upright and then settled gently into their new home, together with back filling the pre-dug planting pits an irrigation system was installed, stabilising anchors and a final mulch.

With all tree planting, good aftercare is essential, on this particular project the university’s grounds team looked after all the trees watering them regularly, due to their hard work and diligence not a single tree was lost despite having an incredibly hot summer.
